Auch in den naechsten zwei Wochen duerfte es in Seoul nicht langweilig werden. Es stehen naemlich zwei Festivals an: Das Hi Seoul-Festival vom 30.4. bis 5.5.2005 rund um den City Hall Plaza sowie das Lotuslaternen-Festival am 7./8.5.2005 um den Jogyesa-Tempel.

Fun Festival for everyone at the best time of year in Korea! In spring May 2005, the third Hi Seoul Festival will fill the city of Seoul with excitement. Das Lotuslaternen-Festival, das zur Feier der Geburt Buddhas veranstaltet wird, hat seinen Ursprung in der Zeit der drei Königsreiche (57 v. Chr. bis 676 n. Chr.). In der Goryeo-Dynastie (918 bis 1392 n. Chr.), als der Buddhismus Staatsreligion war, wurden erstmals im ganzen Land farbige Laternen aufgehängt und in Städten wie auch in Dörfern Festumzüge veranstaltet. Das traditionelle Lotuslaternen-Festival erfreut sich noch heute größter Beliebtheit.

Höhepunkt der Feier ist der Abend der Laternen-Parade, die beim Dongdaemun-Tor ihren Anfang nimmt und bis zum Jogyesa-Tempel verläuft. Das Leuchten der farbigen Laternen bezaubert Besucher aus aller Welt. Sie können eine Ausstellung zur Laternenkunst besuchen und ihre eigenen Laternen herstellen, um sie dann bei der Parade mitzuführen. Das Fest findet vom 6. bis zum 14. Mai statt und lässt Sie eintauchen in eine Festival-Atmosphäre in schillernden Farben.
